FILM COMMISSION COS'È
Nate negli Stati Uniti durante gli anni ’40 e sviluppatesi in seguito in Australia, Canada ed Europa, le Film Commission sono organizzazioni sostenute da un Ente Pubblico (Stato, Regione, Provincia o Comune), che hanno lo scopo di attrarre produzioni cinematografiche e audiovisive ad operare nel proprio territorio di riferimento, fornendo loro aiuto e assistenza a titolo gratuito.
Lo sviluppo dell’industria audiovisiva è infatti uno straordinario catalizzatore di ricchezza e di attività, economiche e culturali, per qualsiasi territorio.
Per raggiungere il proprio obiettivo le Film Commission promuovono le località, attraverso la valorizzazione delle caratteristiche geografiche e artistiche, nonché delle professionalità locali e dei servizi, sia di settore che generici, facilitando le incombenze burocratiche e fiscali.
Le ricadute positive sul territorio sono allo stesso tempo dirette in termini di investimenti in ospitalità, servizi acquistati e personale impiegato e indirette per la crescita dei flussi turistici nei luoghi scelti per le riprese.
ABOUT THE FILM COMMISSONS
The Film Commissions were first established during the 1940s in the United States, followed by Australia, Canada and Europe. Supported by Public bodies (either State or Regional, Provincial or Municipal Councils) the Film Commissions aim at encouraging film and audio-visual productions to operate within their area of establishment, granting them free services and assistances.
Local finances together with economic and cultural activities reap incredible benefits from the development of the audio-visual industry.
To achieve their aim, the Film Commissions emphasise the geographical and cultural features of the chosen locations, of the local professionals and of both general and specific services, reducing bureaucratic and fiscal obstacles.
The benefits to the area are both direct, due to the investments in the hospitality and other services and employment, and indirect, due to the increased tourist flow to the localities chosen as film locations.
VENETO FILM COMMISSION
Nel corso del 1999 la Regione del Veneto, in sintonia con altri Enti Locali italiani, ha iniziato ad interessarsi al fenomeno Film Commission e, quale primo passo verso la costituzione di una Film Commission Regionale, ha commissionato una ricerca ed un censimento delle società e dei professionisti, con sede nel territorio regionale, che operano in ambito cinematografico e audiovisivo e dei servizi collegati a tale settore.
I risultati del censimento, che documentano l’elevato livello professionale degli operatori veneti, sono stati presentati al convegno "Archivi per la produzione audiovisiva: uno sguardo sul fenomeno Film Commission in Italia", Lido di Venezia - 7 settembre 1999, organizzato dalla Regione del Veneto nell’ambito della 56^ Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia.
All’inizio del 2000 la Giunta Regionale ha formalmente istituito la Veneto Film Commission, alla quale vengono attribuite le seguenti funzioni:
Promuovere la conoscenza nel territorio della Veneto Film Commission
Promuovere e coordinare la ricerca sul territorio di luoghi e attività professionali interessanti le produzioni, con completamento delle fasi già in corso, e avviare successivi approfondimenti e relativa diffusione
Definire, anche mediante accordi di programma, le modalità di collaborazioni con gli Enti territoriali del Veneto per le attività relative ai servizi necessari alle produzioni
Promuovere e fornire servizi informativi, anche attraverso gli uffici regionali attivi nel territorio, in collaborazione con soggetti pubblici e privati che possano essere interlocutori utili per le attività di produzione (Uffici e Istituzioni Regionali, Enti Locali, Associazioni Imprenditoriali e di Categoria, Film Commissioner)
Sin dal 1999 inoltre, la Regione del Veneto ha partecipato attivamente alla creazione di un Coordinamento Nazionale delle Film Commission Italiane, che organizza regolari sessioni di lavoro per coordinare una crescita omogenea dell’offerta italiana di servizi e location al mondo della produzione audiovisiva e per favorire un proficuo scambio di informazioni tra Film Commission distribuite su tutto il territorio italiano.
La creazione di questo sito Internet costituisce un altro passo verso la promozione del territorio veneto e la crescita della Veneto Film Commission.

THE VENETO FILM COMMISSION
In 1999 the Veneto Region, following the trend of other Italian local authorities, started to show a clear interest in the Film Commissions. The first step towards the creation of a Regional Film Commission was the commissioning of a research and a census regarding the companies and professionals with offices in the region and operating in the motion-pictures, audio-visual and connected services sectors. The results, which revealed that the Veneto operators are high quality professionals, were presented during the meeting "Audio-visual production archives: an overview of the Film Commissions in Italy", Venice Lido — 7 September 1999 organised by the Veneto Region within the framework of the 56th edition of the Venice Film Festival.
At the beginning of 2000 the Regional Council formally set up the Veneto Film Commission, which has the following functions:
Promoting awareness of the Veneto Film Commission region-wide;
Promoting and co-ordinating a region-wide research for locations and professional activities that might be of interest for production with the completion of the phases already under way, and implementing subsequent follow-ups and their distribution.
Defining, also through framework agreements, the means for co-operating with Veneto regional authorities for the service activities necessary for productions.
Promoting and distributing information, also by means of existing regional centres, in joint co-operation with both public and private bodies that might constitute an interesting reference point for production activities (Regional Offices and Institutes, Local Authorities, Business and Sector Associations, Film Commissioners).
From 1999 the Veneto Regional Council also participated actively in the creation of a national Film Commission Group for the organisation of regular meetings to co-ordinate a homogeneous development of the Italian supply of services and locations to the audio-visual sector and to promote a constructive information flow between Italian Film Commissions.
The creation of the web site is another step in favour of the promotion of the Veneto Region and the growth of the Film Commission.

LOCALITÀ E SCENARI
Situata nel Nord Est della penisola italiana, la Regione del Veneto presenta una grandissima varietà di ambienti naturali ed insediamenti umani.
In un’estensione di circa 18.000 chilometri quadrati s’incontrano il mare con le sue lagune e le foci dei fiumi, l’ampia pianura e le colline costellate di ville, castelli e città murate, i laghi, le zone termali, la fascia prealpina e i superbi bastioni dolomitici.
Una ricchezza ambientale e culturale, completata da un’intensa attività economica e industriale che offre inaspettati scorci sia sulle architetture di epoche preindustriali sia su quelle contemporanee.
Se è quasi superfluo ricordare la città di Venezia e le sue meraviglie, sul fronte delle città d’arte il Veneto offre un ricchissimo panorama, con Verona e la sua spettacolare Arena, Vicenza recentemente inserita nella World Heritage List dell’UNESCO per il patrimonio palladiano custodito all’interno e intorno alla città, Padova con le preziose testimonianze di ogni epoca della sua fiorente civiltà quali il Palazzo della Ragione, la Basilica del Santo, l’Orto Botanico, il Teatro Anatomico dell’antica Università e Prato della Valle, per citare solo le più conosciute.
Sul versante naturalistico e delle bellezze ambientali, partendo da Cortina, "la perla delle Dolomiti", e proseguendo con il maestoso ghiacciaio della Marmolada, si scende attraverso la varietà dei paesaggi energici o dolci dei colli Euganei e del Montello, si toccano le rigogliose rive del Lago di Garda, verso la pianura ricca di corsi d’acqua per giungere al Mare Adriatico con l’ampio delta del fiume Po.
LOCALITIES AND SCENARIOS
The Veneto Region lies in the North East of the Italian peninsula and presents considerable variety in its natural environment and its cities.
In its 18,000 square kilometers , it goes from the sea, with lagoons and river mouths, to broad plains and hills with villas, castles walled towns, lakes and spas, up to the foothills of the Alps and the superb bastions of the Dolomites.
A wealth of culture and environment, then, completed by intense economic and industrial activity with unexpected facets of pre-industrial and contemporary architecture.
If it is all but superfluous to call the city of Venice and its wonder to mind, it must be said that the Veneto has a rich panorama of cities of art. There is Verona, with her spectacular Arena, there is Vicenza, recently put on the UNESCO World Heritage List for all her Palladio architecture, both in the town and around it, and there is Padua with a historical heritage coming from all centuries and a civic life that involves not only the Palazzo della Ragione but the Basilica del Santo, The Botanic Gardens, the Anatomy Theatre of one of the oldest universities in Europe and Prato della Valle.
On the side of natural environment, there is Cortina, called "the pearl of the Dolomites", and the majestic Marmolada glacier, towering over a whole spectrum of landscape, from the austere to the gentle, with the Euganean and the Montello hills, the luxuriant banks of the Lake Garda, down to abundantly-watered plains, the Po Delta and the Adriatic Sea.
